Brad Hanson has more than 25 years of experience in financial services, including numerous banking, card industry and technology-related capacities. Brad started his banking career at BankFirst as a loan clerk working his way to SVP of IT and Project Management. Along the way, Brad started a mortgage lending division and later a credit card division which became one of the largest in the country. Brad is known as a pioneer of prepaid and played a significant role in the growth and development of the prepaid card industry. His experience working with regulators and many financial innovators provides a unique perspective on the history of prepaid, current threats and opportunities, and the changing roles of key participants in the prepaid value chain which propelled MetaBank into one of the largest prepaid card issuers in the world.
Brad retired in 2021 as President of Meta Financial Group, and CEO and Co-President of MetaBank. He is a founding member of the Network Branded Prepaid Card Association and has been recognized as a Paybefore Industry Achievement Award winner. Brad serves on several boards including Source, Inc., Operation HOPE, Neighborli, and Cashless, Inc. Individually, Brad is the largest shareholder and board member of Bankaool, a bank in Mexico. Brad is a founder and shareholder of BAHU Holdings, Inc., the holding company for BAHU Processing, LLC, a banking processor providing services in the US and Mexico. Brad also runs his family foundation, PAWs (Project for Animal Well-being) that strives to ensure veterinary services are available to underserved communities and their pets.
